Agricultural Events and Shows at the Afton Fair!

Be sure to review the Rules & Regulations for bringing Animals to the Afton Fair well in advance!

One of the main purposes of an Agricultural Fair, such as the Afton Fair, is to provide education on Agricultural topics and to provide a platform for youth and adults to learn and compete.

The Afton Fair provides several Agricultural Shows to meet these goals.

The Open Horse Show & Barrel Racing

An annual event as part of our buckle series which Includes both an English and Western Open Horse Show as well as a Barrel Racing and Pole Bending event for cash prizes and year end buckle series and awards.  See the Other Events  for more details and show dates.

Harness Racing

Each year, the Afton Fair hosts a harness racing event featuring the Standard Bred horse breed, both pacers and trotters. These are the same teams that compete at larger, more well known tracks, and the races are very competitive. Entry to the grandstand for this yearly event is free.

Youth Dairy Show

The Youth Dairy Show allows youth of all ages to show different breeds of dairy cattle in a competitive, but learning based event. The youth work with and care for their cattle prior to the event and showcase their cattle during the competition. Many of them go on to compete at the larger county fairs, or the state fair.

Small Animal Show

Each year, small animals such as rabbits, poultry and other small farm animals are displayed at the fair. Contests for rabbits and poultry are held each year.

Animal and Agricultural Exhibits

There are other Animal and Agricultural Exhibits included at the Afton Fair, including historical displays and live animal exhibits.
